Hamden Republicans Endorse Candidate For Mayor

The Hamden Republican Town Committee unanimously endorsed a candidate for mayor at its convention last Thursday.

HAMDEN, CT — Jonathan Katz was unanimously nominated by the Hamden Republican Town Committee last week to be the party’s candidate for mayor in the upcoming municipal election.

Katz, a lifelong Hamden resident and community advocate, brings a “new generation of leadership rooted in fiscal responsibility, innovation, and grassroots engagement,” according to a news release.

Katz, who graduated summa cum laude from Fordham University with degrees in Economics and International Political Economy, currently serves as a U.S. Trademark Prosecution Paralegal at a “world-renowned intellectual property law firm,” the news release states. He has also held roles as a judicial intern and legal clerk and has a long record of civic involvement, including volunteer work with Habitat for Humanity, the ACLU, and local nonprofits in Hamden.

Crystal Dailey, last year’s Republican candidate for mayor, placed Katz’s name into nomination.

“Jonathan represents exactly what Hamden needs right now,” Dailey said. “He’s sharp, compassionate, and tireless in his commitment to our town. He understands the challenges we face and has a real plan to move us forward.”

The nomination was seconded by community advocate and former Republican candidate for state office, Kathy Hoyt.

“Jonathan represents not only the future of our party but the future of our town,” Hoyt said. “He brings the courage to challenge the status quo, the clarity to offer real solutions, and the conviction to serve with integrity. He is someone who will bring fresh energy, clear priorities, and unwavering accountability to Town Hall.”

In his remarks following the nomination, Katz spoke of restoring trust and transparency in local government.

“Hamden is ready for change and that change starts with leadership that’s accountable, forward-thinking, and focused on results,” he said. “I’m running for every neighbor who’s tired of being ignored and every taxpayer who deserves better from their local government. Together, we’re going to take our community back.”
