
The town of Hamden Youth Services Bureau will be offering two Red Cross certified two-day instructional babysitting courses this summe for youth ages 11 to 15.
The sessions will be held Tuesday, July 23 and Wednesday, July 24 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Tuesday, Aug. 13 and Wednesday, Aug. 14 from 10 a.m.to 3 p.m. Both trainings will be held in room 101 at the Board of Education, 60 Putnam Ave.
The classes will be taught by Hamden Youth Services' Outreach Counselor Beth Chiarillo, who is a certified American Red Cross Babysitting Instructor. Each of the courses offered will provide students with basic information required to responsibly care for children, including feeding and diapering, as well as emergency techniques necessary to ensure a safe environment.
Registration fee for each two-day training is $60 for Hamden residents, $10 for paid Hamden Youth Center members and $70 for non-residents (includes the Babysitter's Training Handbook with CD-ROM and the certificate).
