A Happy Tail: N.Y. Dog Lost for More Than a Month Reunited with Owner

Gracie, the dog who got away, was found safe and sound on the same street in Hamden where she was lost.

Gracie, a 2-year-old mini-Australian shephard from Binghamton, New York, was visiting Hamden with her owner, Pam Ludwig, of New York, when she went missing, according to the New Haven Register.

Ludwig was visiting her son in Hamden on Westminster Street, who was supposed to be watching the dog while Ludwig stayed in a hotel, the Register reports. Gracie ran away from the house after breaking loose and bolting out the door on June 14.

Neighbors spent over a month trying to lure the lost 15-pound dog with grilled bacon and camouflaged traps, but they eventually caught Gracie after she found “love” with Charlene Cupole’s 90-pound black lab named Bear, the Register reports.
