Missing Child Found In Hamden: Police

The child, who has been reunited with his family, was found wandering alone in Hamden and was taken to the hospital for evaluation.

HAMDEN, CT — A missing child from New Haven was found in Hamden on Sunday morning, according to police.

Hamden police received calls around 7:20 a.m. on May 4 regarding an unattended, wandering child in the area of Dixwell Avenue and Whiting Street, according to Capt. Raymond Quinn.

Quinn said Hamden patrol officers responded immediately and found a boy around 5 to 6 years old walking alone on the sidewalk.

“No one in the immediate area recognized the child,” Quinn wrote in a news release. “The child was not able to verbally identify himself or say where he resided. The child was brought to a local hospital for a medical evaluation.”

Quinn said that around 8:10 a.m., Hamden police received information from the New Haven Police Department of a missing child matching the description of the boy found in Hamden.

Police determined the missing child was the boy found in Hamden. His family in New Haven responded to his location, according to Quinn.
