Neighborhood Music School presents Rock Fest at The Space

The live concert will feature original music, as well as student arrangements of tunes by classic rock artists.

Neighborhood Music School (NMS) will host the NMS Rock Fest, a free, all-ages show featuring seven different rock groups, as well as participants of the NMS Songwriting Project, on Saturday, June 1 from 1- 4 p.m. at The Space, 295 Treadwell Ave. in Hamden.

The live concert will feature original music, as well as student arrangements of tunes by classic rock artists, including the Smiths, the Grateful Dead and the Red Hot Chili Peppers, among others. Audiences will also be treated to original student scores for string quartet and choral group that will accompany select band performances.

Now in its 12th year, the NMS rock program offers a high quality, creativity-centered curriculum. The program engages students in original writing as part of their music education.

This summer, in addition to lessons and classes, NMS offers Summer Rocks!, a week-long workshop running August 12 -16, for ages 11 and up. Summer Rocks! features master classes; mini-classes, including songwriting and instrument effects processing; and elective workshops.
