New Haven Man Arrested after Found in Donation Box

He was in the Salvation Army donation box attempting to steal items out of it, according to police.

 

A New Haven man was arrested early this morning after an officr allegedly found him halfway crawled into the donation box at the Salvation Army.

At about 1:30a.m. Officer Robert Manfield noticed the suspicious activity in the parking lot of the Salvation Army at 1359 Dixwell Ave., according to police spokesman Capt. Ronald Smith.

When he went to check it out, he saw the person with the upper half of his body inside of the front opening of the donation bin, Smith said.

"As the individual, who was later identified as Michael Rossamondo, emerged, he was in the possession of a hair dryer," Smith said.

Rossamondo, 51, of 583 Columbus Ave., New Haven. was charged with third-degree burglary and sixth-degree larceny and is due to appear in court in Meriden on October 22.
