"The resident struggled with Dupuis in an attempt to detain him," Smith said. "The struggle continued into a common hallway."
With the assistance of the New Haven Police Department, Dupuis was located at his Chapel Street residence, Smith said, and was turned over to the custody of the Hamden Police Department.
Dupuis was charged with third-degree robbery and sixth-degree larceny. He was held in lieu of $500 bond and is scheduled to appear in Meriden Superior Court on Jan. 30.
Detective Michael DePalma conducted the investigation, Smith said.
