New Year’s Holiday Closures, Announcements In Hamden

Officials announce the schedule for town buildings and trash collection for New Year's Eve and Day, starting on Tuesday, Dec. 31.

HAMDEN, CT — Town officials are reminding residents and staff of the following holiday information.

Tuesday, Dec. 31:

Non-essential Town offices and buildings, including Government Center, Keefe Community Center and the Senior Center, will close at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 31. All Hamden Public Library buildings will be open modified hours from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 31. The Hamden Transfer Station will be open during their regularly scheduled hours, 7:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 31.

Wednesday, Jan. 1:

Town offices and buildings, including Government Center, Keefe Community Center, the Senior Center, all Hamden Public Library buildings, and the Hamden Transfer Station, will be closed Wednesday, Jan. 1 in observance of New Year’s Day. The library’s digital branch is available 24/7.

Thursday, Jan. 2:

Town offices and buildings, including all Hamden Public Library buildings and the Hamden Transfer Station, will reopen Thursday, Jan. 2 at their regularly scheduled hours.

Trash and Recycling Pick-Up Delay:

Trash and recycling pick-up for Wednesday, Jan. 1, Thursday, Jan. 2, and Friday, Jan. 3 will be delayed by one day due to the New Year’s Day holiday. The pick-up normally scheduled for Wednesday, Jan. 1 will occur on Thursday, Jan. 2 and so forth, culminating in Friday's pick-up taking place on Saturday.
