Obituary: Barbara Marie Dwyer Gormley, 91, of Hamden
Barbara enjoyed a long successful career in the nursing field and truly cherished her time with loved ones.

HAMDEN, CT - (From Sisk Brothers Funeral Home) On December 20, 2021 after a brief illness Barbara Marie Dwyer Gormley, of Hamden, died at age 91.
She was predeceased by her husband of 56 years Atty. Kevin T. Gormley. Also predeceased by her brother Atty. John A. Dwyer of Whiteville, N.C. and a sister Katherine D. Deveau of New Haven, and brother Thomas D. Dwyer of Hamden, CT.
She is survived by her brother Gerald P. Dwyer and wife Mary formerly of Bethany, CT. Barbara was born in New Haven on August 12, 1930, daughter of the late Andrew P. Dwyer, Assistant Chief of Police City of New Haven and Katherine Dunn Dwyer.
She leaves three sons Kevin T. Gormley, Jr. of West Haven, Andrew D. Gormley of Hamden, Matthew K. Gormley of Rodham, N.Y. and daughter Lisa Gormley Grossman and her husband Robert and their two children Joshua and Katherine as well as four great-grandchildren of N. Augusta, S.C.
Barbara was a graduate of Hospital of St. Raphael School of Nursing class of 1951 and employed in many areas of nursing including the New Haven Dept. of Health as school nurse, staff at HSR, and at Leeder Hill as charge nurse.
Funeral at Sisk Brothers Funeral Home, 3105 Whitney Ave., Hamden on Wednesday, December 29th, calling hours for family and friends from 9:30 - 11:30 a.m. prior to Mass at noon in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, followed by burial at All Saints Cemetery in North Haven.
