Obituary: Bonnie Bretko, 73, of Hamden

Bonnie was the owner and operator of Sugar and Honey Day Care in Hamden for over 30 years.

HAMDEN, CT - (From Sisk Brothers Funeral Home) Bonnie Bretko died peacefully at Connecticut Hospice on May 1, 2021. She was born July 11, 1947 in New Haven a daughter of the late William and Dorothy Rice Pope and was a lifelong area resident.

She is survived by her husband of 43 years Robert Bretko, of Hamden, son Dennis Damming and his wife Kristie of Hamden, daughter Karrie Barney and her fiancé Mark Palombo of Londonderry, NH. Her grandchildren were everything to her, Cameron and Linsey Barney, Ty and Brady Dammling, as well as grand pup, Chloe.

Also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her brothers Harold and John Pope.

Bonnie was the owner and operator of Sugar and Honey Day Care in Hamden for 34 years until her retirement.

Everyone says the party is wherever Bonnie is. She could always be found cheering on Ty and Brady at the baseball field.

She loved her Wednesday night dinners at the Hamden Elks. She was a past president for Hamden Emblem and enjoyed her card nights with her close circle of friends.

Calling hours will be Thursday from 4:00-7:00pm at Sisk Brothers Funeral Home, 3105 Whitney Ave., Hamden. Mask and social distancing will be required.

Service and Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the CT Hospice, 100 Double Beach Rd., Branford, CT 06405.
