2 Men Stole Nearly $2K Worth Of Items From Business: North Haven PD

Police said the men entered a business and filled two garbage bags with nearly $2,000 worth of items and left through a rear emergency door.

NORTH HAVEN, CT — Two men have been arrested in connection with the theft of nearly $2,000 worth of items from a business in North Haven in September, according to police.

Police responded to the area of Universal Drive on Sept. 26 on the report of a theft.

Officers found that two men entered a business, filled two garbage bags with assorted merchandise valued at approximately $1,954, and left the store through a rear emergency door, according to police.

“Store personnel provided officers with information regarding the suspect vehicle and advised that the individuals were believed to be involved in similar thefts at partner locations throughout the state,” police wrote in a news release.

Police said an investigation that included collaboration with multiple municipal law enforcement agencies led to officers identifying the suspects as 26-year-old Tyler Ransom of East Hartford and 36-year-old Andres Meletrich of New Britain.

Ransom was arrested Nov. 13 on a warrant and charged with fourth-degree larceny and criminal attempt to commit fourth-degree larceny.

Meletrich was arrested Jan. 7 on a warrant and charged with fourth-degree larceny and criminal attempt to commit fourth-degree larceny.

“Those who believe they can commit crimes and disappear should think again—our officers remain vigilant, persistent, and determined,” police wrote. “If you break the law in North Haven, we will keep investigating, and accountability will follow.”
