Obituary: Ethel T. Hughes, 98, of Hamden

Ethel enjoyed a long successful career as a registered nurse and proudly served in the U.S. Navy during WWII.

HAMDEN, CT - (From Sisk Brothers Funeral Home) In New Haven December 25, 2021, Ethel T. Hughes 98, of Hamden.

She is survived by several loving nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by a brother Thomas Hughes and sisters Catherine Hughes, Loretta Hughes, Mildred Dubay, Edna Gillette and Rita Withington.

Ethel was born in New Haven on October 25, 1923 daughter of the late John and Mildred Whalen Hughes.

Ms. Hughes was a registered nurse and worked at the former A.C. Gilbert Co. and retired from the VA Hospital in West Haven.

She proudly served in the US Navy during WWII.

Funeral from Sisk Brothers Funeral Home 3105 Whitney Ave. Hamden Thursday at 9:30 a.m., Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church.

Burial in St. Lawrence Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 8:30 - 9:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers contributions to the VA Hospital Hospice Care 950 Campbell Ave. West Haven, CT. 06516.
