Obituary: John D. Cronin, 83, of Hamden

John was a decorated inspector for the Hamden Police Department, Air Force veteran and longtime member of Hamden Father's youth sports.

HAMDEN, CT - (From Sisk Brothers Funeral Home) John D. Cronin, retired inspector of the Hamden Police Department with 28 years of service passed away quietly on August 27, 2021.

Born in New Haven on Aug. 31, 1937 to David J. Cronin and Bridget Malone Cronin, John was the husband of Nancy Dolan Cronin and the late Mary Sheehan Cronin. John was the proud father of David (Karen) Cronin, John (Lori) Cronin, and Brian (Jennifer) Cronin as well as a wonderful stepdad to Laura Tebbetts, Clay (Dawn) Tebbetts, and Clint (Jen) Tebbetts and the best "Poppy" ever to 12 grandchildren.

John was a USAF Veteran and held an Associates Degree in Criminal Justice from The University of New Haven and was a graduate of the 96th Session of the FBI Academy at Quantico, VA.

Recipient of numerous commendations and Law Enforcement awards, he was also the first investigator in the Quinnipiac University Security Dept. as well as the former coach for Hamden Father's Baseball and Basketball and past Commissioner of the Hamden Father's Babe Ruth and Tee Ball Leagues.

He loved the Red Sox and Wilcox Tech Baseball.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 12 noon in Sisk Brothers Funeral home 3105 Whitney Ave. Hamden.

Burial in St. Mary's Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 10 a.m. - 12 noon.
