HAMDEN, CT - (From Hamden Memorial Funeral Home) We are gathered here today to celebrate the life of Mitzie E. Cole Fickling. Mitzie went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on January 4, 2022 at the age of 54.

Mitzie Was born to Alfred and Clarice Cole on February 7, 1967 on the island of Jamaica, W. I. She is predeceased by our beloved parents, Alfred C. Cole and Clarice L. Cole.

Mitzie precedes her siblings in going home. Her five siblings include her eldest sister Joan Cole Brissett and her husband are Tony Brissett sister Angela Cole. Her daughter, Alexandra and her family sister Verna Cole and her son Adam brother a Roger Cole and Andrea‘s parents of daughter Taylor and her family and son Zachary and sister Grace and son Vincent.

Let me introduce me to see if she was well loved for her witty positive outlook and for her charming sense of humor she often encourage others via text messages or voicemail and was apt to leave a Bible verse and a spirit lifting lighthearted comment

On one occasion upon receiving one of Mitzie uplifting messages, and knowing that I was not the only recipient I asked Mitsy why she shared herself in this way her response was it has become my ministry and go to lift each person spirit by honoring God serving and loving him and encouraging and blessing others with my message

In her work environment Mitzi was a skilled childcare professional with professional expertise and communication and training she worked for numerous institutions including Quinnipiac College daycare in Hamden Connecticut and McKims recreational center in Baltimore Maryland.

Her therapeutic support of care was the best demonstrated during the 13+ years she worked at the children’s Center in Hamden Connecticut. They are she excelled in her role as a youth mentoring coordinator/parent trainer, and she commended by New York State office of children and family services, for her efficacy, professionalism, and it is strategies.

Clearly, she has excellent interpersonal and communication skills and could easily and consistently maintain a warm supportive learning environment for the children in her care. Children responded warmly to her presence and just loved her.

Auntie Joan shared that she witnessed one occasion where, while shopping, they heard a young person‘s voice saying “ Ms. Mitzie, Ms. Mitzie.” They looked and saw a young man running towards Mitsy. When he reached Mitzi he gave her a big hug and hung onto her throughout the introductions the how are used and the entire conversation. That’s just one of many examples of Mitzi’s lasting impact on the children she served. She was truly well loved and respected.

In 2010-2011, Mitzie Faced a serious health challenge her kidneys were failing her and that brought her to death store. But God said not now not today. There is more to do to show my love, care, and for her to become a testament of my healing power. Doctors told the family, to let her go and pressed us to activate the do not resuscitate option.

We resisted. We chose to BELIEVE GOD’S WORD TO US THAT SHE WILL LIVE AND NOT DIE.

We took shifts watching over her 24/7, singing hymns, reading Gods Word aloud, and offering prayers of thanksgiving to God. The doctors literally said “she is not going to survive this, especially with this tube in her throat.”

We keep on believing God‘s Word to us. Then The day came when Mitsy fully opened her eyes and recognize us. She still could not talk but signaled by winking her eyes and or tapping her fingers. Oh yes, we sure had a praise party, rejoicing, and giving God thanks! God’s word to us was Being realize. We can truly testify that God is our healer.

We call Mitzie “A Miracle From God.”

Mitzi‘s health was restored and she continued to gain strength over the subsequent years, and eventually volunteered at Abington Hospital. Expressing a passion to complete her college degree, she enrolled in DeVry University and begin taking courses, progressing towards her bachelors one course at a time. Despite visual Challenges, she was a diligent student and made the Dean’s list in 2017. The day and then she came when she shared with auntie “Joanne one more course to go.”

In July 20 21 her family and friends attended Mitsy’s virtual graduation ceremony from DeVry university when she excepted her bachelors of science and communications. We give thanks to our Lord Jesus for his faithfulness to us.

Mitchie‘s passing was unexpected. We realize that “no one knows the day or hour when these things will happen, not even the Angels in heaven, or the sun himself. Only the father knows.” We must remain ready!

Mitzi has “fought the good fight and she has finished her race and she has kept the faith.”

Rest In Peace, Mitzie. You have departed out of this world and now you Are safely in the arms of Jesus. But you will not be forgotten. You will forever be in our hearts. We love you, Mitize. Amen.
