Obituary: Patricia A. (O’Brien) Krafcik, 82, of Hamden

Patty, always loving and dedicated to her family, was a devoted social worker, social justice advocate, environmentalist and volunteer.

HAMDEN, CT - (From Sisk Brothers Funeral Home) Patricia A.(O’Brien) Krafcik of Hamden went to be with our Lord on Saturday August 7, 2021 after a long illness. Patty was born in Bridgeport to the late Jean A. Terlikowski O’Brien and Joseph M. O’Brien.

Patty is survived by her loving and doting husband Richard, who she recently celebrated 58 years of marriage with. Her son Paul Krafcik of Stratford, her daughter Laura Haydon (Bill) of Madison, and her daughter Annette Krafcik of Portland, her grandchildren William, Griffin, and Chloe Haydon as well as her loving sister Sheila Lee of Guilford and her treasured nephews Kevin, Brian, and Timothy Lee.

Patty graduated from Southern CT State Teacher’s College with a degree in Education and went on to pursue her Masters in Social Work at Fordham University.

Over the course of her career she held such positions as Director of Meals on Wheels to various Director of Social Work and Recreation positions throughout CT.

In her spare time Patty worked tirelessly on causes she was passionate about from social justice to the environment.

Patty derived great joy in volunteering in the New Haven schools teaching children to read. Some of Patty’s loves included organic gardening, painting with water colors, nature walks, singing, listening to classical waltz music, spending time with her children, and practicing and living her faith.

Patty’s gentle spirit and easy smile will be missed by all who knew and love her. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Thursday August 12th at 11:00 am at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel 2819 Whitney Ave., Hamden.

Burial will follow in Centerville Cemetery Washington Avenue Hamden.

Friends may call prior to Mass on Thursday morning from 9:30-10:30 at Sisk Brother’s Funeral Home, 3105 Whitney Avenue, Hamden.

In lieu of flowers the family is asking that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
