Obituary: Robert Clyde Byrd, 93, of Hamden
Robert proudly served in the U.S. Army and worked for over 30 years at the West Haven VAMC as a respiratory therapist.

HAMDEN, CT - (From Beecher & Bennett Funeral Home) Robert Clyde Byrd, 93, of Hamden passed away September 29, 2021 in the WH VAMC after a brief illness.
He was born in Kennard, TX a son of the late Isado Byrd and Myrtle Wooten and proudly served in the US Army overseas during WWII.
He was employed for over 30 years at the WH VAMC helping his fellow veterans as a respiratory therapist before his retirement in 1984.
Robert is survived by a sister Rosie Andrews of Los Angeles, CA, a sister in law Gennetta Byrd of Ceres, CA, and many good friends and neighbors. He was predeceased by 5 brothers Isado, Delbert, Jessie, Charles and L.C. Byrd, a sister Narvell Owens, and longtime friends Dallas FitzSimmons and Clifton Neuman.
Friends may visit with his family Friday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 at BEECHER & BENNETT 2300 Whitney Ave. Hamden and are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 11:00 AM.
