Obituary: Susan Gooley, 68, of Hamden
Susan, the owner of Le Petit Gourmet for many years, was known for her love of animals, her family and her commitment to numerous charities.

HAMDEN, CT - (From Beecher & Bennett Funeral Home) Susan Gooley, 68, of Hamden, loving wife of Daniel Gooley, passed away on August 4, 2021 at Yale-New Haven Hospital.
Born in Westfield, MA on August 30, 1952, the daughter of the late George and Esther Fischer and the late Lois Chamberlain Fischer, she is survived by her husband Daniel, daughter Bree Gervais and her husband Simon of Farmington, grandchildren Riley Rose and Olivier Jacques Gervais; siblings John Fischer and his wife Susan of TX, Joan Fischer and her husband Peter Berry of MA, William Fischer and his partner Carol Siegel of MA, Rebecca Mundschenk and her husband Russ of MD, George Fischer, Jr. and his wife Susan of IL, and Kimberly Burbo and her husband Gregory of VT, as well as 12 nieces and nephews.
After graduating from Hamden High School, Susan went on to study at Chamberlayne Junior College. Susan loved to travel; starting as an Au Pair in Paris, then backpacking through Europe.
After working in different jobs, including walking the line at the New Haven Railroad, Susan established Le Petit Gourmet, her business for over 35 years. She owned and operated the catering company before opening the café in Whitneyville.
Serving food prepared with love and attention to detail, Susan’s café became a staple of the community.
Her family remembers her love of animals and commitment to various charitable causes.
She was an active and devoted member of Church of the Redeemer and then Spring Glen Congregational Church.
Since retiring in 2020, Susan was looking forward to traveling and spending time with her family.
Friends are invited to visit with Susan’s family on Tuesday, August 10th from 4-7 p.m. at BEECHER & BENNETT, 2300 Whitney Ave., Hamden.
A service celebrating her life will be held on Wednesday, August 11th at 10 a.m. at Spring Glen Congregational Church, 1825 Whitney Ave., Hamden.
Interment will follow in St. Lawrence Cemetery. Masks and social distancing policies will be observed. The church service will be available virtually, visit www.springglenchurch.org to join the Google Meet.
There will be limited church capacity, with overflow onto the church lawn. Memorial contributions in Susan’s name may be made to Animal Haven, 89 Mill Rd., North Haven, CT 06473.
