NEW HAVEN, CT —Alexis Holmes, an Olympic gold medalist in track and field, will deliver a moderated conversation at Southern Connecticut State University’s John Lyman Center for the Performing Arts on Wednesday, Oct. 30 at 7 p.m.

During this moderated event, Holmes will share her extraordinary journey to the Paris 2024 Olympics, where she anchored the U.S. women's 4x400-meter relay team, running alongside superstars Sydney McLaughlin-Leverone, Gabby Thomas, and Shamier Little. The team secured the gold medal and broke a 36-year-old U.S. record, originally set by the legendary Florence Griffith-Joyner. Holmes will also reflect on her early days running track in New Haven, Conn., and her rise to prominence in U.S. track and field.

Holmes began her track career under the guidance of James Barber, coach of the New Haven Age Group Track Club and longtime head coach of Southern Connecticut’s women’s track teams. Her mother, Dawn Stanton, ’90, MS ’97, a current SCSU staff member, was also a standout track athlete at SCSU, earning multiple All-American honors and induction into the SCSU Athletic Hall of Fame.
