Pedestrian Struck, Killed By Vehicle In Hamden: Police
Police said a passing motorist, Hamden patrol officers and the fire department provided life-saving measures to the victim at the scene.
HAMDEN, CT — A pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle Wednesday night in Hamden, according to police.
Police responded around 9:55 p.m. to the area of Dixwell Avenue and Mather Street on the report of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle, according to Lt. Raymond Quinn.
Quinn said officers found a man who had been struck by a vehicle laying in the road. Life-saving measures were provided at the scene by a passing motorist, Hamden patrol officers and the Hamden Fire Department, according to Quinn.

The man was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead shortly after his arrival, according to Quinn.
Quinn said the victim’s name is not being released until family is notified.

The driver remained at the scene, and is cooperating with the investigation, according to Quinn.
Quinn said the area of Dixwell Avenue and Mather Street was closed while the accident was investigated, and has since reopened.
The incident is an “active and open investigation,” according to Quinn.
