Pedestrian Seriously Injured In Hit-And-Run Crash: Hamden PD
The pedestrian was struck by a vehicle that left the scene, according to police.
HAMDEN, CT — A pedestrian was seriously injured after being struck by an SUV that left the scene Monday night in Hamden, police said in an update Tuesday morning.
Police responded around 8:30 p.m. on May 12 to reports of a pedestrian struck in the area of Dixwell Avenue and Mather Street, according to Capt. Raymond Quinn.
Quinn said Hamden patrol officers arrived to find a man lying in the roadway who had been struck by a vehicle.

Hamden Fire Department and medical personnel also responded to the scene.
The man was taken to an area hospital with serious injuries, according to Quinn.

The vehicle that struck the pedestrian was described by witnesses as a dark-colored SUV with damage to the front grill area, according to Quinn.
Quinn said the vehicle briefly stopped at the crash scene and then fled northbound on Dixwell Avenue before police arrived.
Dixwell Avenue was shut down for several hours on Monday night as the crash was investigated, but has since reopened.
The crash is being investigated by the Hamden Accident Reconstruction Team. Anyone with information is asked to call Officer Eric Hallstrom at 203-230-4000.
