Police: Hamden Man, 80, Arrested For Offering Illegal Investment

John Scalesse was charged Monday with four felonies, according to the New Haven Register.

An 80-year-old Hamden man was arrested on Monday after he allegedly offered another man an illegal, $25,000 promissory note, according to the New Haven Register.

On Monday, John Scalesse, 80, of Hamden, was charged with first-degree larceny, sale of unregistered securities, sale of securities by an unregistered agent and prohibited activities regarding the sale of securities, all felonies, according to the New Haven Register.

Police said Scalesse offered a man a $25,000 promissory note, but he was not registered with the Department of Banking to sell securities and that the investment did not meet the requirements of the law, according to the Register.
