Quinnipiac University Appoints Associate Vice President for Admissions, Financial Aid

Gregory Eichhorn has been named associate vice president for admissions and financial aid, as announced Thursday, Aug. 25.

Gregory Eichhorn has been appointed associate vice president for admissions and financial aid at Quinnipiac University.

“Quinnipiac has the programs, facilities and outstanding faculty of a larger university but we want to recruit and educate students like a small school,” Eichhorn said. “I believe in the one-on-one approach to understanding what prospective students and their families desire. We want to make sure all of their needs are met and that Quinnipiac is a good fit.”

In the newly created position, Eichhorn is working closely with Joan Isaac Mohr, vice president for admissions and financial aid, and members of the admissions staff to familiarize himself with the department, university and community. Eichhorn also will serve as a member of the President’s Cabinet, Senior Leadership Team and University Planning Council.

“We are delighted to have Greg Eichhorn join us at Quinnipiac University in admissions and financial aid, which will provide a smooth transition in leadership when I retire in two years,” Mohr said. “Greg has been a very successful vice president at Albright College and is well respected by the professional educational and counseling community. It means a great deal to us that he and his family will make Quinnipiac their new home.”

Mohr and Eichhorn first worked together in admissions 25 years ago when he was a graduate student at Hofstra. Eichhorn called Mohr “a friend and mentor” and joked that replacing her is akin to replacing Derek Jeter at shortstop.

“Quinnipiac has definitely made the transition easier with the two-year overlap,” Eichhorn said. “I will be trained and mentored from the best so that I will not miss a beat.”

Eichhorn earned a bachelor’s degree in marketing from Fairfield University with a minor in economics and an MBA in management from Hofstra University. For the last 23 years, he worked at Albright College in Reading, Penn., most recently as vice president of enrollment management and dean of admission.

Eichhorn served as the fiscal oversight chair for the National Association for College Admission Counseling (NACAC) and is the former president of the Pennsylvania Association for College Admission Counseling (PACAC).

Eichhorn and his wife, Mary, have a 13-year-old son, Evan.

“I met my wife at Fairfield. She loves New England,” Eichhorn said. “Her desire has always been to retire in Connecticut. We are just a little early.”
