Silk'n Sounds Joins Quinnipiac's Ensemble Night

The award winning a capella chorus will join students at Quinnipiac and will feature jazz and chamber orchestra performances.

From Quinnipiac University: Silk'n Sounds, Greater New Haven’s award-winning women's a cappella chorus, will join students performing at Quinnipiac University’s annual Ensemble Night on Thursday, May 4, from 7-8:30 p.m. in the Clarice L Buckman Theater at Quinnipiac, 275 Mount Carmel Ave. This event is free and open to the public.

The concert will feature jazz and chamber orchestra performances. The performing student groups, which range in size from five to 20 members, will play both jazz and classical styles.

Silk'n Sounds is a chapter of Harmony, Inc., an international organization of female a cappella singers specializing in the barbershop harmony style. Founded in 1998, Silk’n Sounds sings barbershop, jazz harmony and rhythmic selections from many different eras to a wide range of audiences. Under the direction of Christina Lampe-Onnerud, the chorus continues to develop its repertoire and build its vocal skills and showmanship, while competing in regional and international barbershop competitions. Vesna Mehinovic, adjunct professor in the Department of Visual and Performing Arts, is the director of the Hamden Symphony Orchestra. Kyle Saulnier, visiting professor in the Department of Visual and Performing Arts, is the director of the jazz program and ensemble coordinator at Quinnipiac.
