Hamden police officers responded to the area and determined the incident happened in a home on West Sheppard Avenue.
Quinn said officers spoke with a woman through a window and determined that some type of domestic altercation had happened inside the residence. The woman then “broke contact” with the officers, according to Quinn.
“Hamden Police Officers attempted to re-establish contact with persons inside the residence but the persons inside were not responsive to Officers,” Quinn wrote in a news release. “A perimeter was established around the residence while officers attempted to re-establish contact.
“Streets in the immediate area of the residence were closed down to traffic. A nearby private school was also notified of the incident and asked to clear their playground of students.”
Quinn said over the next two hours, officers were able to make “intermittent contact” with the people inside the residence.
“Hamden Police Emergency Services Unit Personnel, Hamden Police Crisis Negotiators and The Hamden Police Social Worker responded to the scene of the incident,” Quinn wrote. “The occupants of the residence were ultimately convinced to exit the residence and one person was taken into custody for their actions during the domestic incident.”
A 34-year-old man was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct and interfering with an officer. He was held in lieu of a $10,000 bond with a court date of Thursday, Sept. 12.
