Town Offers Children’s “Learn to Swim” Program

Get your child ready for summer fun & especially water safety by sending them to the Hamden Recreation Dept. Spring & Summer “Learn to Swim” programs! 

Lessons are held at the Hamden High School Community Pool, 2040 Dixwell Ave. Programs are for children in grades K – 4th.  Levels taught are beginner, advanced beginner, and intermediate.  Class size is limited, therefore please register early. 

The next class starts June 17th – June 28th.  Monday, Wednesday & Friday afternoons.  Cost is $50 resident, $60 non-resident per session..  Stop by the office to register or go to www.hamden.com for registration form and more details.   

Swimmers should come fully prepared for lessons in swim attire. Cap is required for hair longer than 4” or secured with braids.  A dry towel and a change of clothes are recommended after class. Children will be considered registered only when payment and application is received in the Recreation Office. 

No registration taken poolside. No calls, just show up first class.  Parents are not allowed on the pool deck during lessons.  Exceptions are only on the first and last class of each session.  

Also available is our Summer “Learn to Swim” program.  Dates:  July 1st – August 2nd.  Please visit our website for registration form and information.  Programs offered various times of the day for ages 6 months to adults!
