1 Dead, 1 Injured In Hartford Shooting; Crash: Police
Two people suffering from gunshot wounds crashed a vehicle into a Hartford Police Substation, officers said. The driver later died.
HARTFORD, CT — A man in his twenties has died and another was injured in a shooting and subsequent car crash in Hartford Thursday night, police said.
An officer was responding to a ShotSpotter activation in the area of 115 Zion St. when he noticed a vehicle driving quickly east on Ward Street at 1o:09 p.m. Thursday, Hartford police said.
That vehicle crashed into a parked vehicle, then made contact with the officer's police cruiser before crashing into the Hartford Police Substation at 134 Affleck St.

The vehicle's driver and front seat passenger were both suffering from gunshot wounds, police said. Officers treated them until EMS arrived, and they were both taken to an area hospital.
The driver, identified as 25-year-old Daryl Walker of Bloomfield, was pronounced dead at the hospital. The front seat passenger, a male in his twenties, is in stable condition, police said.

Officers later determined the victims were shot near 127 Zion St. after they responded to the initial ShotSpotter activation and found evidence of a shooting in that area.
The Hartford Police Major Crimes and Crime Scene Divisions assumed the investigation, which police said remains active and ongoing.

Thursday night's shooting is the second to take place on Zion Street this month — on May 10, a man died after he was shot in the area of 307 Zion St.
Police said the man, 59-year-old Guillermo Gonzalez of Hartford, was likely not the intended target of that shooting.
