BLOOMFIELD, CT — The Bloomfield and state high school athletics communities are mourning the loss of a state championship-winning basketball coach this week.

Bloomfield High boys basketball coach Kevin Moses, who was also an assistant football coach, died Monday of cancer, according to multiple social media posts from athletics circles.

"Sad sad day in Bloomfield. Rest In Peace to Kevin Moses, a coach, father and an even better man. Please keep the Warhawks and the Moses family in your prayers," wrote the Bloomfield High School football team via its Twitter account.

Just last year, Moses led the Warhawks to the state basketball championship within its division.
It was at the Mohegan Sun Arena last March where Moses personality shined as he and his team won the championship, celebrating the victory with his own, unique dancing style.

Those dance moves were reflected on by the Connecticut Interscholastic Athletics Conference, the governing body of high school sports in the state, in posting condolences Monday night.

"RIP Bloomfield beloved coach and friend Kevin Moses. A bright light, a heck of a dancer and an absolute CHAMPION for kids," wrote the CIAC via Twitter.

The CIAC also re-posted footage of a smiling Moses' moves at the Mohegan Sun Arena.

Sadly, Moses was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer just a few months after the championship, and he died not long after diagnosis.

Just Monday, friends and family had set up a GoFundMe page to help defray the medical costs associated with treatment.
