East Hartford Man Pleads Guilty To Sexually Assaulting Child: State
The 46-year-old child rapist will be sentenced in January 2026.
EAST HARTFORD, CT — An East Hartford man has pleaded guilty to sexually assaulting a young boy from 2019 to 2021.
Sharmese L. Walcott, Hartford State’s Attorney, said Monday that on Oct. 16, Octavio DeJesus, 46, of East Hartford, pleaded guilty in Hartford Superior Court to two counts of second-degree sexual assault.
In February 2021, a juvenile victim disclosed to a relative that between May 20, 2019, and Feb. 24, 2021, when the child was between the ages of 6 and 8, he was sexually assaulted by his caregiver, identified as DeJesus, Walcott said.

According to authorities, the victim’s relative notified the state Department of Children and Families of the disclosure, who notified the East Hartford Police Department.
"The victim reported that the abuse would occur in the evening or during lunch time, while the child was home for remote learning," wrote Walcott in a release.

Sentencing is scheduled for Jan. 8, 2026, at Hartford Superior Court.
