Hartford 2024 Election Guide: What You Need To Know

HARTFORD, CT — Election Day is upon us and there are several key positions on the ballot, including the office of President, U.S. senator, Congress, state representative, state senate, and more.

Everyone will be asked to vote on this referendum question, "Shall the Constitution of the State be amended to permit the General Assembly to allow each voter to vote by absentee ballot?"

Here is a look at all the candidates and positions on the ballot in Hartford:

• For President, the candidates are Kamala Harris and Tim Walz, Democrat, Donald J. Trump and J.D. Vance, Republican, Jill Stein and Butch Ware, Green Party, Chase Oliver and Mike ter Maat, Libertarian, and Robert Kennedy Jr. and Nicole Shanahan, Petitioning candidate.

• For the United States Senate, the candidates are Christopher S. Murphy, Democrat, and Matthew M. Corey, Republican. Murphy is also endorsed by the Working Families Party. Other candidates include Justin C. Paglino, Green Party, and Robert Finley Hyde, Cheaper Gas Groceries Party.

• For U.S. Congress, the candidates are U.S. Sen. John Larson, D-1st District (also endorsed by the Working Families Party); Republican Jim Griffin; and Mary L. Sanders of the Green Party.

• For State Senator, the candidates are:

Districts 1, 10, 12-23 — State Sen. John Fonfara, D-Hartford, and Republican challenger Luis R. Delgado.

Districts 2-9, 11, 24 — State Sen. Douglas McCrory, D-Hartford, and Republican challenger Kristin Hoffman.

• For State Representative, the candidates are:

Districts 1-5 — State Rep. Matthew Ritter, D-Hartford. (Unopposed)

Districts 6-10 — State Rep. Joshua M. Hall, D-Hartford. (Unopposed)

Districts 11-14 — State Rep. Minnie Gonzalez, D-Hartford. (Unopposed)

Districts 15-18 — State Rep. James "Jimmy" Sanchez, D-Hartford and Petitioning candidate Alyssa Peterson.

Districts 19-22 — State Rep. Julio A. Concepcion, D-Hartford. (Unopposed)

District 23-24 — State Rep. Maryam Khan, D-Windsor. (Unopposed)

• For Registrar of Voters the candidates are Democrat Giselle "Gigi" Feliciano, Republican Michael T. McGarry, and Working Families Party-endorsed Samuel Martin Pudlin.

Voting Details

Polls in Connecticut are open 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Election Day. You can use the Secretary of State’s website to find your polling place. Voters who are in line by 8 p.m. will be allowed to vote.

Connecticut also allows for Election Day registration at designated centers in each town. People must be registered by 8 p.m. to vote using Election Day registration.
