Hartford Man Accused Of Shooting Vehicle In Road Rage Incident: Police

HARTFORD, CT — A road rage incident in Hartford Thursday night that involved gunfire has one Hartford resident in police custody.

According to the Hartford Police Department, the suspect is identified as Lorenzo Dunn, 30, of Hartford, who was charged with first-degree criminal attempt at assault, first-degree reckless endangerment, illegal disharge of a firearm, criminal possession of a firearm, carrying a pistol without a permit, having weapons in a motor vehicle, possession of narcotics, and possession of narcotics with intent to sell.

Police said at about 8:39 p.m., officers were called to the area of Park and Washington streets after reports of shots being fired during a road rage incident.

Upon arrival, officers located a vehicle that had sustained gunfire damage, police said.

As a result, a detailed description of the suspect vehicle was broadcast, and members of the Violent Crimes Unit and the Greater Hartford Regional Auto Theft Task Force located the vehicle shortly thereafter, police said.

The suspect, identified as Dunn, was taken into custody without incident, with a gun and narcotics recovered from the vehicle, the HPD said.

Further investigation revealed Dunn had an active arrest warrant for an earlier firearm-related assault, police said.

Dunn was transported to the Hartford Police Detention Facility for processing and charged, according to the HPD.

"This arrest highlights the ongoing coordination between Hartford’s VCU and Auto Theft Task Force, whose quick response and teamwork ensured a dangerous suspect was safely apprehended while recovering a firearm and illegal narcotics," wrote Hartford police in a release.
