Named in honor of the McDonald’s Corp. founder Ray Kroc, the awards were established in 1999 to "recognize hard-working restaurant managers," according to McDonald's.

Padilla was one of 395 McDonald’s restaurant managers from 70 markets around the world to receive the honor, which includes a cash prize, a trophy and a trip to McDonald’s Worldwide Convention in Barcelona, Spain.

She has worked at McDonald’s for 16 years.

In addition to serving customers, Padilla serves her community by volunteering at the Ronald McDonald House and donating meals to local schools.

She also provides mentorship to her crew members. Last year, three of her employees graduated from college.

“I am so honored to be recognized as a Ray Kroc Award winner,” said Padilla. “I couldn’t have done it without my crew. I have an open-door policy and am willing to help my team in any way that I can. I truly believe my people management skills are the foundation of the restaurant’s success.”

McDonald's independent franchisees and regional management nominate restaurant managers for the Ray Kroc Awards.

“Nancy goes above and beyond every day to serve her customers, restaurant team and the larger Hartford area,” said owner-operator Aneka Young. “Nancy has created a welcoming environment for everyone who walks in the door of the Flatbush Avenue location. This is an incredibly well-deserved award for a general manager who promotes a culture of care and who pushes her team to learn and grow every day.”
