Hartford Parents And Babies Celebrate Diaper Bank Opening

Community Health Center, Inc. (CHC), in partnership with the Diaper Bank of CT, is proud to announce the opening of our third diaper bank location at Connecticut Pediatrics @ CHC in Hartford. Diaper bank services are also available at CHC’s Middletown and New Britain Family Wellness Center locations.

CHC staff and Hartford residents gathered to celebrate the occasion with a grand opening ribbon-cutting ceremony.

Founded in 2004, CHC diaper banks serve families in the greater Hartford area with children ages birth to three. Diaper sizes newborn through six, all sizes of pull-ups, and a limited supply of adult diapers are available on a first come, first serve basis.

“We know that health and wellness for the community goes beyond our medical, dental, and behavioral health services,” says CHC Vice President of the Eastern Region Yvette Highsmith-Francis. “Our partnership with the Diaper Bank of Connecticut is about meeting those basic needs for families and helping to alleviate the financial burden that often comes with the high cost of diapers.”

Administrative Services Coordinator Aubrey Roscoe states, “One in three families struggle to afford diapers. Parents are often forced to choose between paying for food, rent, utilities, or diapers, often causing stress to the whole family unit. We at CHC focus on meeting the families where they are and make sure they have access to a continuum of care, including access to necessities like diapers.”

Families can register in-person at the site on the day of the diaper bank and use the service until the child turns three years-of-age. Each eligible child receives 50 diapers per month. The Hartford Diaper Bank runs every third Monday of the Month from 12:00 - 5:00 pm at the Connecticut Pediatrics @ CHC location at 76 New Britain Avenue.
