Woman Shot Amid Hartford New Year's Celebration: Police
The woman in her 50s was found injured near a prominent city park that was home to the city's major New Year's celebration.
HARTFORD, CT — City police rushed to the aid of a woman who was shot in Hartford early New Year's Day as fireworks were slated to go off overhead to mark the onset of 2026.
According to the Hartford Police Department, officers assigned to the Bushnell Park area located a woman suffering from an injury to her left shin at about 12:11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 1.
Bushnell Park and the surrounding area were the scene of the annual First Night Hartford celebration, with fireworks planned to go off at midnight for New Year's revelers.

Police said the woman, who was estimated to be in her 50s, was rushed to an area hospital for treatment.
"Once at the hospital, staff notified that the injury was believed to be the result of a gunshot wound," wrote the HPD Thursday morning.
