A Hartford Police officer helped rescue a family from a house fire.

HARTFORD--A Hartford Police officer helped rescue a local family from a house fire over the weekend.

NBC Connecticut reports that on Sunday morning Officer Jim Fierravanti came to the aid of a mother, son and family dog.

The officer kicked in a back door at the School Street home, found the three and brought them to safety, NBC reports.
