Iconic Restaurant To Be Resurrected In Hartford: Reports
A casualty of the pandemic, the upscale eatery plans to resume operations in a busy entertainment district next year.
HARTFORD, CT — A well-known Italian restaurant that shuttered amid the chaos of the pandemic could soon reopen in a prime entertainment spot in Hartford.
Both the Hartford Courant and the Hartford Business Journal are reporting that Carbone's Ristorante, an upscale Italian eatery dating back to the 1930s, is looking to reopen in a former movie theater location on Front Street.
According to the HBJ, the owner of the restaurant, who currently operates locations in Bloomfield and Rocky Hill, is looking to get about $2.3 million in government loans to finance the endeavor.

It would reopen sometime in 2024 and be located in the Front Street entertainment area, according to the Courant.
Carbone's got its start amid the Great Depression on Franklin Avenue, transforming into a high-end eatery in the 1960s.

A casualty of the pandemic shutdown in 2020, Carbone's hasn't been open in Hartford since.
The area where it could move to was last Apple Cinemas at 39 Front St., in the entertainment district near the Connecticut Convention Center and the Connecticut Science Center.
