July 22 MOVE! w/ Urban League of Hartford-Htfd. Marathon Found. Event

People of all abilities, ages and fitness levels can register now for the second annual MOVE! With the Urban League of Greater Hartford event on Saturday, July 22, 2023.
The Hartford Marathon Foundation (HMF) and the Urban League of Greater Hartford (ULGH) are collaborating again to host the 5K and 1 mile run or walk, free kids races and a Movement Festival of fitness activities in the southern portion of historic Keney Park, adjacent to the Woodland Street entrance, off of Greenfield Street in Hartford.

The event celebrates the many ways members of the community are active while also promoting Hartford’s outdoor amenities. At 9 a.m., a 5K timed run/walk and a 1-mile run/walk (untimed) will kick off the event. At 10:15 a.m. the free HMF FitKids quarter mile or half mile free fun runs take place in the south field. Between 9 a.m. and 12 noon, the public is invited to enjoy the free Movement Festival of fitness activities with health resources, nutritious snacks, giveaways and live entertainment.

With the support of presenting sponsor Pratt & Whitney and a host of partners and participating groups, including the Urban League of Greater Hartford Young Professionals, proceeds will go toward helping the Urban League of Greater Hartford’s work to improve racial equity and economic empowerment through education, employment, housing, health and social justice programs.

The family-friendly event offers participants ages 12 and under free entry to the 5K or FitKids races. The entry fee of $10 for 13 to 21-year-olds and $20 for adults ages 22 and older includes a tee shirt (also available for purchase).

“This event welcomes everyone to walk, run or get moving in some way, encouraging the community with different activities at the Movement Festival to support health and fitness," said Josh Miller, President of the Hartford Marathon Foundation. "We look forward to returning to Hartford's Keney Park for the second year of a great community event partnership with the Urban League of Greater Hartford and appreciate the support provided by Pratt & Whitney to make it possible.”
