55 MPH Wind Gusts Possible On New Year's Day, Thursday For Northern CT

HARTFORD/TOLLAND/WINDHAM COUNTY, CT — The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory from 7 p.m. Wednesday until 10 p.m. Thursday.

"West winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts of 45 to 55 mph expected. Some locations in western and central Massachusetts could see a few gusts as high as 60 mph....Strong winds may bring down branches, power lines, and weakened trees. Power outages are possible. Driving may be difficult due to sudden wind gusts."

Thursday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 39. Breezy, with a west wind 15 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 49 mph.

Thursday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 26. West wind 10 to 16 mph, with gusts as high as 39 mph.

Friday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 37. West wind 10 to 14 mph.

Friday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 20. West wind 6 to 9 mph.
