One Dead In Overnight Fire In Hartford: HFD
The blaze Monday night also injured one other person and displaced three families from the multi-family home.
HARTFORD, CT — One person was killed and nine others displaced after a multi-family home caught fire late Monday night in Hartford.
According to the Hartford Fire Department, one person was found dead at the scene of the fire, which was at 39 Elliot St. in the city's South End.
"The Hartford Fire Department extends its deepest condolences to the family, friends, and loved ones of the individual who lost their life in this tragic incident," wrote the HPD in a release late Tuesday morning.

The two-alarm blaze was reported at approximately 10:35 p.m., when Hartford firefighters responded to a structure fire at 39 Elliott St.
"Crews arrived to find heavy fire on the first floor of a multifamily home that had spread to the upper floors and roof," wrote the HFD. "A second alarm was struck for additional personnel."

The HFD said firefighters worked through the night to bring the fire under control.
In addition to the fatality, one adult male was treated and released for smoke inhalation, firefighters said.
The Hartford Fire Marshal’s Office, Hartford Police, and the State Fire Investigation Unit are investigating the cause.
The HFD said a total of three families (nine adults) have been displaced and are receiving assistance from the department's special services unit and the American Red Cross.
