Planned Huskies Bar Expansion Into Hartford Scrapped: Report
The proposed new location was to be near the XL Center, which is a second home for UConn basketball and hockey games.
HARTFORD, CT—More than a year ago, the city announced the expansion of the Huskies Tavern brand into Hartford with much aplomb.
But now, according to a report, those plans have been abandoned.
The Hartford Courant reported Wednesday that the owners of Huskies Tavern, long a staple on the University of Connecticut campus, have scrapped plans to build a new location in Hartford.

According to the Courant, the owners have chosen to focus on renovations at its flagship bar and the new Huskies restaurant that opened last year in downtown Storrs.
The Hartford iteration was pitched for the corner of Pratt Street and Trumbull Street, near the UConn basketball/men's hockey programs' second home — the XL Center.

In January 2024, one of former Hartford Mayor Luke Bronin's final acts was to announce the arrival of Huskies, along with another restaurant development.
At the time, it was hoped the bar could attract UConn fans and alumni, among other customers, as the XL Center is home to select games of the UConn men's and women's basketball teams, as well as the UConn men's ice hockey.
