Severe Thunderstorm Watch Issued For Hartford/Tolland County
The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood warning for parts of northern Connecticut.

UPDATE: The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood warning for parts of Hartford and Tolland counties until 8:30 p.m.
"At 519 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain have fallen. The expected rainfall rate is 0.5 to 1 inch per hour. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly," the weather service said.
Some locations that will experience flash flooding include: Hartford, West Hartford, Manchester, East Hartford, Enfield, Vernon, Windsor, Mansfield, South Windsor, Simsbury, Bloomfield, Avon, Suffield, Ellington, Tolland, Windsor Locks, Coventry, Stafford, Somers and East Windsor.

Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 3 inches are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly.

Some locations that will experience flash flooding include: Springfield, Chicopee, Enfield, Westfield, Holyoke, Windsor, Agawam, West Springfield, Simsbury, Ludlow, Longmeadow, Suffield, East Longmeadow, Wilbraham, Windsor Locks, Stafford, Somers, Granby, Canton and Southwick.
HARTFORD/TOLLAND COUNTY, CT — The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for northern Connecticut until 8 p.m. Tuesday.
The US National Weather Service Boston MA said "A severe thunderstorm watch has been issued for the entire state of Connecticut through 8 pm this evening. The primary risk for CT is damaging straight line wind gusts and torrential rainfall."
Here are the forecast details for Tuesday via the National Weather Service:
This Afternoon: Showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly after 5pm. Some of the storms could produce gusty winds, heavy rain, and frequent lightning. Partly sunny, with a high near 88. South wind around 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
Tonight: Scattered showers and thunderstorms before 8pm, then isolated showers between 8pm and 11pm. Some of the storms could produce heavy rainfall. Mostly cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly clear, with a low around 67. South wind 3 to 6 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
