Shootings Rock Connecticut's Capital City: Reports
Hartford police are investigating a fatal shooting Wednesday afternoon and a mass shooting Wednesday night.
HARTFORD, CT — Connecticut's capital city was rocked Wednesday with two separate shootings that left four injured, one dead, and the Hartford Police Department searching for answers.
• According to WFSB Channel 3 and WVIT Channel 30, the first shooting happened at about 1:30 p.m., with a man being shot and killed at an apartment building on Capitol Avenue.
The victim has been identified as Jared Floyd, 25, according to WFSB, citing the Hartford Police Department.

WVIT reported this was Hartford's sixth homicide of 2025 and police are seeking witnesses as they investigate.
• Then at 9:53 p.m. Wednesday night, police swarmed to 161 Nelson St., Hartford, for an "ambush" shooting in which four were shot, according to WFSB.

Three of the four are suffering "non-life-threatening injuries," while a fourth was rushed to the hospital "unresponsive," WFSB reported.
WVIT Channel 30, citing Hartford police, said there were "multiple shooters" and the incident appeared to stem from a dispute regarding a dice game.
