Fire Destroys House In Ledyard, Pet Killed: FD
The cause of the Tuesday fire remains under investigation, according to the fire department.
LEDYARD, CT — A home was destroyed and a pet perished in a fire Tuesday afternoon, fire officials said.
No residents or firefighters were injured.
Firefighters responded to the house on Lambtown Road Tuesday around 4:51 p.m., according to a Facebook post.

When crews arrived on scene, they found a “heavily involved structure” fire, officials said.
Firefighters began to make entry for an interior attack, but due to the condition of the house, crews were pulled out. Firefighting efforts continued from outside, and the main body of the fire was knocked down around 6 p.m., according to the announcement.

Crews brought in an excavator to demolish the structure and fully extinguish the fire.
Firefighters used tankers for water, as the area does not have hydrants, officials said. The scene was cleared around 10 p.m.
The Ledyard Fire Marshal’s Office is still investigating the cause of the blaze.
