Ledyard to Consider Water Project Extension

The Aljen Heights water project is under budget and the town could use the savings to extend the reach of the water line.

The water line project in Aljen Heights is nearing completion and because it is about $200,000 under budget, the Town Council will consider using that excess money to extend the water line further.

The $5.4 million project is set to finish on Oct. 1 and if the extension is approved by the Town Council the waterline could be extended to Oak Hills Trail at a cost of $190,000, according to a report in the Norwich Bulletin.

The newspaper's report says that Ledyard may need state government approval “if the town opts to use money from the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund, which is another Aljen Heights funding source.”
