This crashed-up red Volvo is parked on front of Ledyard High School to remind students of the possible devastating consequences of drinking and driving.
This particular car was driven by someone who had been drinking. The driver survived the crash but not without serious injury.
The high school issued a letter addressed to parents, which says "prom could be and should be one the happiest and most memorable high school experiences every student should have. Please remind your teen to stay away from the temptations of alcohol and drugs this prom season."
The junior prom is Saturday, the senior prom is May 25.
