• Pemberton declares victory for the 139th District special election (norwichbulletin.com) — Ledyard voters helped elect Democrat Larry Pemberton, who won 434 local votes and carried all three towns in the 139th District’s special election. Pemberton, of the Eastern Pequot Tribal Nation, becomes the first Native American in the Connecticut General Assembly and says he now wants to listen closely to constituents’ needs before setting priorities in Hartford.
   

• New nonprofit seeks to preserve Silver Lake legacy (lakevillejournal.com) — A longtime Silver Lake camper and volunteer who now lives in Ledyard is among many alumni rallying to preserve the camp’s legacy as it prepares to close after the 2026 season. A new nonprofit, Friends of Silver Lake, is organizing hundreds of supporters to potentially partner with church leaders, keep youth programs alive, and even relocate the experience if the Sharon property can’t be saved.
   

• Shirley Ann Losby (prestontimesonline.com) — Ledyard is briefly remembered as one of the many places where Shirley and her husband Harold lived during his 36-year Navy career, before they eventually retired to Iowa City. Her obituary highlights a life of nursing, volunteerism, music, travel, and deep devotion to family, with funeral services set for January 16 in Iowa City.
