Police Arrest Intoxicated Woman at Ledyard Henny Penny: Report

Ledyard Police said the 54-year-old Gales Ferry resident was under the influence of alcohol and oxycodone.

On March 20 at approximately 7:35 p.m., Ledyard Police were dispatched to the Henny Penny on Route 12 for a report of a possible intoxicated motorist.

Officers arrived shortly afterwards and made contact with a white female fitting the description provided by the caller.

"Through investigation, it was learned that the female was under the influence of alcohol as well as prescription medication," according to the Ledyard Police Department. "The female was identified through driver's license as Suzanne S. DeLaura. DeLaura was put through the standard field sobriety tests for detection of impairment of alcohol and or narcotics. DeLaura did not perform the field sobriety tests to standard and was placed under arrest."

DeLaura was allegedly in possession of an unmarked prescription bottle container with oxycodone pills inside, police said, adding that oxycodone is a schedule 2 controlled substance and is required to be carried in the original container, as delivered by the pharmacy.

She was arrested for:

  • Operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs
  • Retention of Original Container (Prescription Narcotics)

DeLaura, of 7 Laurel Leaf Drive, Gales Ferry, was transported and processed without incident. She was later released on bond with a court date of April 7 in New London.
