Ledyard Church Robbery, Assault Suspect Sought By Police
A church employee sustained injuries in a Monday morning robbery.
LEDYARD, CT — Police are asking for the public’s help finding a man who robbed an office employee at Ledyard Congregational Church Monday morning.
Police Capt. Ken Creutz said police received a 911 call from the employee on Jan. 13 at approximately 8:52 a.m.
When police responded to the church, at 722 Colonel Ledyard Highway, the female victim had a visible injury to her face, police said. She told police a man had assaulted her and taken valuables.

The suspect was last seen on foot inside the church building. Police searched the area for the man with the help of a K-9 Unit from the Norwich Police Department, but he escaped.
The victim was taken to Backus Hospital for treatment for non-life threatening injuries, according to police.

Police described the suspect as a Hispanic or Middle Eastern male, about five feet, nine inches tall, with dark hair and sparse facial hair. He was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, dark pants and white Nike sneakers. No vehicle was seen fleeing the area.
