Teens Charged for Graveyard Fire

Two juveniles, age 14 and 15, were charged in the fire that occurred adjacent to the graveyard at the end of Captain Amos Stanton Drive last Sunday.

The brush fire sparked a police investigation after witnesses saw the teens leaving the site just as the fire broke out. According to Ledyard Police Lt. Michael Finkelstein, the teens were referred to the Superior Court for juveniles matters and both were charged with reckless burning. The charge is a lesser offense than arson, because the area that was burned was not a building.
