Here's a sneak peek of Ledyard Middle School's production of The Music Man, Jr. scheduled to open on Friday night and the crew has done a great job with the set and costumes.
"The kids are so good, we wanted to make sure they look good too," said director Dan Reilly.
Reilly joked that he raided all the Goodwills in within a 50-mile radius and said some costumes were made specially.
There are 34 cast members who have been rehearsing after school and on Saturdays since the last week of February and 14 crew members on the set.
"This is the first time on stage for many of them," said Reilly of the seventy and eighth grade cast. "I'm really happy with where we are."
The play takes place in 1912 when a traveling con man makes a stop in an Iowa town and convinces the town that they need to have a town band, to which he can sell instruments and lessons.
Many from town (except the Mayor and the music teacher) take to the idea and maybe, eventually, so does the music man.
Music Man Jr. is about 1 hour and 20 minutes and opens Friday at 7 p.m. with a second show at the same time Saturday.
