No that the temps are warming up, or more accurately the snow is gone, many of you are going to be wandering down to Mystic for riverside strolls, dinner and ice cream. Now's a perfect time to go because not only are the tourists still at home planning their summer retreat but most importantly, the Mystic Drawbridge is working normally!
According to project manager Brent Church, the Mystic drawbridge is fully operational, save for a few “minor adjustments” which will be dealt with during overnight hours so as not to disturb traffic.
“The bridge is working perfectly,” Church said.
Operators are being trained today and the crane is being moved out. The bridge will be raised, for now anyway, “on request” by boaters.
“We have some minor work, a few very small modifications and a little painting, but otherwise, our punch lost is getting smaller and smaller,” he said.
And just in time for summer!
All the final bridge work, save for off-bridge utility work, will be done mid-month, he said.
